Today we receive with great joy the news that our Holy Father has appointed Father David Waller as the new Bishop of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham. The clergy and faithful of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter join me in welcoming Bishop-elect Waller as we rejoice together in this important moment for our brothers and sisters in the UK. Of course, the occasion of this new appointment is also a moment to express great gratitude for the ministry and priestly witness of Monsignor Keith Newton, who has led the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham since its founding in 2011. In many ways, Monsignor Newton has fostered the broad identity and mission of the Ordinariate, especially as this still relatively new entity takes its place in Catholic life and contributes to the evangelical dynamism of the whole Church. Bishop-elect Waller is a great choice for Ordinary, as he has served aptly as Vicar General and member of their Governing Council. He is a proven parish priest, leading parishes both in the Ordinariate and in the Diocese of Brentwood. As he begins this transition and takes up his new responsibilities as Bishop, he can count on the prayers, encouragement, and support of all of us in the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter. Ad multos annos, Bishop-elect Waller -------------------------------- Most Rev. Steven J. Lopes, Bishop
