HOUSTON — The Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter offers its warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Eminence Daniel Cardinal DiNardo on his election today as president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops.
“We are grateful to Cardinal DiNardo for his long history of leadership in the USCCB, from his role as chair of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities to his service as its vice-president,” said the Most Rev. Steven J. Lopes, bishop of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter. “His Eminence is well known to us in the Ordinariate through his generous hospitality and pastoral guidance in the Ordinariate’s formative years in the United States. We are certain he will bring the same qualities of kindness and vision to his ministry as president of the USCCB.”
“We look forward to supporting Cardinal DiNardo in his vital role of assisting each bishop and his diocese in proclaiming the beauty of the Church’s teaching,” Bishop Lopes said. “I ask all the faithful of the Ordinariate to join me in pledging our prayers and assistance to the cardinal in his new responsibilities for the Church in the United States. Together, we will work to be a voice for the poor, the unborn, for religious liberty, for the common good and especially for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
