Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope

A Jubilee Year is a significant moment in the life of the Church in which she celebrates the year of messianic favor inaugurated by Christ through his Incarnation and Paschal Mystery (cf. Lk 4:19; John Paul II, Tertio millennio adveniente, nos. 11-16). Proclaimed every twenty-five years since the thirteenth century, the celebration of jubilee years typically includes pilgrimages, processions, celebrations of Mass, and an invitation to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. These liturgical celebrations are opportunities to receive the Lord’s mercy, especially through the practice of the Jubilee indulgence, and lead to the performance of works of mercy.During the Ordinary Jubilee of 2025, a plenary indulgence, with remission and forgiveness of all sins, which may be applied in suffrage to the souls in Purgatory, is granted under the usual conditions to the faithful who undertake a pious pilgrimage or a make a pious visit to the Cathedral or other church or sacred place designated by the local Ordinary, and devoutly participate there in Holy Mass or any of the following: a celebration of the Word of God; one of the major hours from the Divine Office; devotional prayers such as the Via Crucis; the Rosary; the Penitential Office which ends with the individual confession of penitents; or for a suitable period of time engage in Eucharistic adoration and meditation, concluding with the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form, and invocations to Mary, the Mother of God, so that in this Holy Year everyone "will come to know the closeness of Mary, the most affectionate of mothers, who never abandons her children" (Spes non confundit, 24).

Lopes, Bishop of the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter has so designated the churches of Mount Calvary in Baltimore, MD and St. John the Evangelist in Calgary, AB as places of pilgrimage along with the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston, TX for the course of this Jubilee Year. In so doing, His Excellency entrusts this Jubilee Year of Hope to the intercession of Our Lady of Walsingham, and of Saint John the Beloved Disciple. -
Ordinariate Prayer for the Jubilee Year 2025O BLESSED Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our most gentle Queen and Mother, look down in mercy upon us, our families, our Parish and Ordinariate, and upon all who greatly hope and trust in thy prayers, as we implore thine aid and intercession in this Jubilee year. By thee it was that Jesus, our Savior and hope, was given to the world; and he has given thee to us that we may hope still more. O gracious Mother, plead for us thy children, whom thou didst receive and accept at the foot of the Cross when thou received the Beloved Disciple into thine embrace.
