KATY, Texas - The 32 people gathered together for Mass at St. John XXIII High School on Dec. 13 had a reason to be joyful — and not simply because it was Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent.
Those gathered represented the founding members of St. Margaret Catholic Community, the newest community in the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.
Led by Father Steve Sellers, the community will have Mass every Sunday at 10 a.m. in the student center of the high school, where Father Sellers also serves as chaplain.
“The Holy Spirit is at work, calling people home to the Catholic Church,” Father Sellers said of the second Ordinariate community in the Houston area.
St. Margaret seemed a natural choice for the patroness fo the new community, Father Sellers added. She is someone “who had the same heart for the poor that Pope Francis does,” he said, and who had a great fidelity to the Church.
