Out of concern for the safety of Ordinariate clergy and lay faithful, Bishop Steven J. Lopes has canceled the March 22 Chrism Mass in Scranton, Pa., due to the dangerous travel conditions created by Winter Storm Toby.
With the Nor'Easter causing multiple flights to be canceled today, and because hazardous road conditions are predicted in and around Scranton on March 21 and 22, it would not be feasible nor safe to maintain the planned schedule for the Ordinariate's 2018 Chrism Mass.
The Ordinariate’s Chrism Mass has been rescheduled to Tuesday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m. CDT at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston, Texas.
Holy oils will be mailed to Ordinariate Parishes and Parochial Communities who are unable to send representatives to the rescheduled Chrism Mass.
Please stay tuned to the Ordinariate’s homepage (
ordinariate.net) for further updates to the March 27 Chrism Mass.
